Oak, Ash & Thorn Tarot - New Edition

Oak, Ash & Thorn is a poem read aloud in a small wood. This interpretation of the tarot by Three Trees Tarot offers a look at the stories we grew up with, but also at the environment and ecology, with recyclable packaging, a digital guidebook and a design inspired by the patterns of the forest. The major arcana are the ones you know, but reimagined in the animal kingdom, while the minors reinvent each suit: squirrels for cups, hares for pentacles, ravens for swords and foxes for wands. It is like being drawn into an engraving from a Brothers Grimm storybook.

Three Trees Tarot hides two minds, two hearts. On one side, Adam Oehlers, an illustrator based in Norwich whose work has been exhibited from Australia to the United States. His inspiration draws from the classic illustration of Arthur Rackham and Edward Gorey, from pen-and-ink and print-based traditions. Old stories and fairy tales feed and fascinate him, shaping that soft dreamlike world where he works, silently, at the edges of everything. On the other, Stephanie Burrows, a tarot scholar and creator whose passion was sparked while rummaging through a box of her mother's craft supplies, with The Fantod Pack by Edward Gorey tucked inside. Its dark humour had her hooked at once. Today, she and Adam take you by the hand and lead you to places just as unforgettable.
