The Carnival at the End of the World Tarot + Guidebook “Madam Lulu’s Book of Fate”
The Carnival at the End of the World Tarot is a deck whose title says it all: irreverent, festive and desperate, both catastrophic and theatrical. A reinterpretation that places masks, figures, and human and non-human beings at its centre, in search of the meaning of celebration and of connection with the elements. A major work by Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick, a deck meant to be contemplated for hours.
The set also includes Madam Lulu’s Book of Fate, a 196-page guide that accompanies the deck and delves deeper into its creative universe. The book invites readers to discover the mysterious and unsettling figures that inhabit the cards, to understand them and get to know them more deeply. It includes interpretations of the additional cards, reflections by tarot scholar Sarah Falkner, and other content for those who love art, storytelling, and divination.
A great artistic duo with great stories: Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick, both born in 1964, work with photography, installations, fictional anthropology and deliberately absurd historical reconstructions, always with a strong documentary style.
Their narrative knows no boundaries and unfolds across many different media. They have taken part in over 100 exhibitions worldwide, and their works are included in more than 30 museum collections, including the MFA Boston, the Brooklyn Museum, LACMA and the Smithsonian Institution.
Cards and guidebook in English.
